WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) -- Locals raised on the tunes of Chuck Brown flocked to the historic Howard Theatre Tuesday morning for a public viewing of the late, great musical icon. Fans of Brown braved the heat and crammed into a windy line to say one final goodbye to the man after he passed away on May 16. And yet, while the event could have been a sad sendoff to D.C.’s own “Godfather of Go-Go”, the mood outside the theatre prior felt far more positive---like a fond farewell to an old friend, a celebration and tribute of the legend’s life. People carried old records, donned shirts and pins with Brown’s image, and some even did a little dancing, as they prepared to bid adieu to the man who created the soundtrack of their youth. Take a look at these photos from the event.
