GREENBELT, Md. (WUSA) -- A Bowie man was sentenced to seven years in prison for possessing and distributing child porn, federal officials said in a news release.
John Shutt, 65, was also sentenced to "supervised release for life," according to the news release.
"Following his identification, a search warrant was executed at Shutt's residence on September 17, 2010, and computers and other digital media were seized. Subsequent forensic examination of the computers and hard drives revealed approximately 1,483 images and 32 videos of child pornography," officials said.
In his guilty plea agreement, Shutt also admitted he had possessed underage porn for more than 15 years. He also admitted to sharing the images and videos with people he had met online, officials said.
