Republican Governor-elect Bob McDonnell's victory in Virginia over Democrat R. Creigh Deeds was a triumph for a GOP looking to rebuild after being booted from power in national elections in 2006 and 2008.

Virginians will be going to the polls to vote for a Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, all members of the House of Delegates and a host of local offices & ballot questions. Polls are open 6am-7pm.

Maryland residents will be going to the polls on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 to elect mayors, council members and other municipal seats.
