Program Honors African American Women Who Are Education Advocates

WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Wednesday morning, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will participate in a Black History Month program at the department's headquarters honoring African American women who are advocates for education.

Duncan will give remarks on the importance of educations before introducing keynote speaker and chancellor of D.C. Public Schools Kaya Henderson. There will also be a panel discussion and music from the Duke Ellington School of Arts' Saxophone Ensemble.

The event will take place at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Barnard Auditoriumat 400 Maryland Avenue, S.W. Washington, D.C.
