ST. MARY'S COUNTY, Md. (WUSA) -- A man has been arrested and charged with possession of a concealed deadly weapon after it was reported that he had failed to pay a $500.00 cab bill.
On March 31, deputies were contacted by a cab driver from Annapolis Bay Cab, who said that he had driven Michael Thomas Budd, 59, of Edgewater, Md. to an address near the 28000 block of Point Lookout Road in Mechanicsville, Md.. The cab fare was over $500 and Budd didn't pay.
The car driver then contacted the Sheriff's Office to report the theft and deputies located Michael Budd.
Further investigation revealed Budd was already wanted on several open warrants (3 for Violation of Protective Order and 1 for failing to appear in court). Budd was then arrested on the open warrants and theft.
After searching Budd, it was discovered that Budd was in possession of a cane which concealed a sword. The charge of possession of a concealed deadly weapon was subsequently added.
