Barricade Over In Southwest DC, Woman In Custody

WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- DC Police have taken a woman into custody following a barricade situation in Southwest that lasted over two hours.

Police tell 9 NEWS NOW dispatchers received a report of a shooting in the unit block of N Street around 6:50 Monday morning from EMS personnel in the area who heard gunshots and screaming. Police quickly responded to the scene, and have since confirmed shots were fired in the area. However, they were unable to locate a shooting victim.

An Emergency Response Team also responded and made entry into the building around 9:00 a.m.. Police say the team found the woman barricaded inside. So far there is no confirmation from DC Police that the woman was armed when she was taken into custody.

Police set up a command post on 1st and M Street. Officers blocked traffic in the vicinity 1st and N Streets. First St. was closed at Half St., M St., & O St.
