NAPLES, Fla. (AP/WUSA) - A Bethesda man who was seriously injured when a mattress flew off a passing furniture truck in southwest Florida has been released from the hospital.
According to The Fort Myers News-Press, 50-year-old Igor Stacho is getting further treatment at a local rehabilitation center. His wife Katarina, who is home in Maryland after the accident, said he is doing well.
Stacho and a visiting friend were walking on a Naples sidewalk on April 5 when the metal-framed mattress flew off the passing truck, striking him in the head. Media reports said that he suffered a skull fracture and spinal injuries. The truck hasn't been located.
Stacho, a construction contractor, was released from the hospital on Wednesday. His wife says he has been moved to a recovery facility in Florida because he is still too injured to fly home.
